Vineyards in the Appalachian High Country AVA are planted at elevations between 2,290 and 4,630 feet. The wineries in this AVA experience unique challenges and benefits created by the elevation and sloping mountainsides.

Banner Elk Winery & Villa
Located in Banner Elk, our winery processes locally grown grapes into excellent wines reflecting the unique characterizations of the Appalachian Mountains. We produce Seyval Blanc, Chardonnay, Banner Elk White, Banner Elk Red, and award-winning blueberry wine from estate-grown berries. Stop in for a tasting!

Grandfather Vineyard Wines
Grandfather Vineyard & Winery was founded in the spring of 2003 when owner Steve Tatum planted the first vine. We opened the doors to the winery in May 2011, offering world-class wines. Our terraced mountain vineyard and winery is nestled right on the Watauga River at the base of Grandfather Mountain. Warm breezes during the day and cool, crisp nights help develop the flavors and balance of our wine. We think you’ll find our wines unique. Enjoy and share with friends.

Linville Falls Winery
Linville Falls Winery is a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We’re in the small community of Linville Falls, located on mile marker #317 of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and named after the iconic waterfall just a few minutes drive from our farm. We are part of the Appalachian High Country viticulture area that is characterized by higher elevation vineyards with warm days and cool evenings, which give way to happy grapes, and in turn, delicious wine. Come “Elevate Your Taste” with us!

Old Barn Winery
The Old Barn Winery is a family dream: creating a vineyard and winery in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Our farming roots run four generations deep in these beautiful mountains and we always envisioned our Christmas trees and vines growing together in perfect harmony. Every bottle is filled with the same love, passion and commitment our family has poured into our farms since 1960.
